If you are visiting Albania than you should definitely go to the Sazan Island National Water Park and Karaburun Peninsula. In May 2010 this area was declared a National Park of Albania due to its great flora and fauna.  

The Karaburun Peninsula was enclosed for decades and served as a military base, you can still see some rusty military buildings as you explore Karaburun. It is almost completely surrounded by both the Adriatic Sea to the north and the Ionian Sea to the south. Because of the isolation Karaburun has a lot of untouched nature and virgin beaches. The water is crystal clear and the nature is breathtaking. Let’s not forget to mention that on the waters of Karaburun endangered seals (Monachus monachus) are found.

After being amazed by the destinations we mentioned it is time to visit the Sazan Island. This island is the biggest in Albania with its highest peak is 342 m. Sazan Island has an area of 5.7 km2 and for many years it was used as a military base. If you want to know more about the history of communism in Albania, this island can give you a tase of it, due to a network of secret bunkers and tunnels of those years. Due to the beauty of this island and the virgin coastline this is definitely a must not only for the tourist but also for the locals to.
